If you want to experience a real emotional journey, one that can’t be replicated by a movie, then reading a sad book is always a good idea. Even though there are some very sad books out there, most of them are actually classics and they really do have some happy times too. In fact the stories are raw, real, profound and powerful which adds to the reading experience. The characters are intriguing and it is easy to get fully stuck into the book, and shed many tears when the sad moments take place.
A brilliant book which is certainly a sad book, but also a brilliant book has got to be The Fault In Our Stores, which was written by John Green. It was a New York Times best seller and it was made into a major motion picture movie. Although the movie was great, everyone who has read the book will be able to tell you that it is one of the best and saddest books of all time. Another really sad book has got to be The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, this is an old time classic but it is also really heart breaking and will have you crying buckets.
One of the saddest books ever written has got to be My Sister’s Keeper by Jodi Picoult. This story was so sad and powerful that it was made into a movie. Once again no matter how powerful the movie was, it never replicates the experience of reading the book and feeling every single sad emotion that goes along with it. Another sad book really worth mentioning is The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. This book will have you in tears for days on end, it is such a powerful story that once again it is yet another sad book that was made into a motion picture film.
